Where it all started…
I grew up in the hills in Pakihikura on a sheep and Angus Stud farm. After high school I won a scholarship to train as a Chef at UCOL in Palmerston North and soon found out that it was not for me. After a few years of working in Hospo in Christchurch and Wellington I came back to Palmerston North and decided to do my Nail technology training. I managed to find a space to rent in Palmerston at Spectra and after a few months there I got approached by the then Owner of Blush Hair and Beauty in Feilding Kelly, to come rent a space in Feilding. So I started off doing a couple days in Feilding and a couple in Palmy, I soon found that I was a lot busier in Feilding so I decided to rent a space full time over here. After a couple of years of renting I decided that it was time for me to do my beauty therapy training, While I was doing my training Kelly decided that she wanted to sell the salon and asked me if I was interested in buying it, so we came to an agreement that I would buy it once I was qualified. Then on April 1st 2009 I brought Blush Hair and beauty (10 years ago). At the young age of 25.
How things have changed…
When I first brought Blush, I took on 1 full time and 2 part time hairdressers and myself as the beauty therapist and Nail tech. I really had no idea what I was getting myself in for. I wasn’t married and didn’t have any children. After 8 months we did our first renovation at Goodbehere Street. We gutted the place and rebuilt and renamed the salon Adore. Over the years of being at Goodbehere Street my husband Cody and I got Married and had 2 awesome children. Sophia who is now 6 and Logan who is 3.
Nearly 2 years ago we had the opportunity to buy our own building to set the salon up in. So again, Cody got on the tools and him and a team of awesome tradies built us a new salon. It was the best move ever! We opened Adore Hair and Beauty at 10 MacArthur Street on 1st August 2017. We have changed a lot as a team, but I still have an amazing team of 4 hairdressers and 3 soon to be 4 beauty therapists and myself.
What do we offer…
We are a Joico Hair salon and are very proud to be. Our hair team can do everything from Creative colouring services through to our weekly pensioner shampoo sets and blow waves. The hair team has trainings every 5 weeks with the educator from Joico to keep the team up the latest styles and colouring techniques. We also offer Keratin express blowouts chemical straightening and good old perms.
On our beauty Therapy side, we have an amazing array of services that we offer from all the general beauty needs like lash tints and waxing though to our tailored facials and speciality treatments, including IPL hair removal. What really sets us apart is that we offer advanced treatments such as Dermal needling treatments with the newest technology Derma Pen 4 and I also am a qualified cosmetic tattooist. I specialise in eye brow tattooing but also offer eyeliner tattooing and areola reconstruction tattooing.
Brow tattooing is a true passion of mine and I am constantly up skilling and doing master classes to learn new techniques and in crease my skill level. Along with my training the beauty team are constantly doing trainings and learning new things. In the last 6 months they have done their Henna brow training and lash lift training. I love that we can continually bring new services for our clients.
10 years on and I can honestly say I can’t see myself doing anything else.
